Last weekend the 4th Annual Community Trombone Day took place in Mansfield led by Brett Baker and the members of the Black Dyke Trombone Quartet. Delegates of all ages, from all over the Midlands, area came together for a full day of workshop activities. Performances by the Youth and Junior Black Dyke Trombone Ensembles were also featured. Rath Trombones were also on hand providing a fully stocked trade stand for all to enjoy. Delegates were entertained at lunch time by the Black Dyke trombone quartet,
and involved in performing as different sized groups. Organiser Martin Heartfield commented “this year saw the largest number of delegates attending and the event seems to be growing each year with sponsors already secured for 2017”
Following the Trombone day Brett was joined by Paul Woodward and the Blidworth Welfare band for a fundraising concert. The audience enjoyed pieces from the band as well as solos and duets by Paul and Brett. The Youth and Junior Trombone Ensembles also performed to a rapturous and very supportive audience. A great day was had by all and everyone is looking forward to next year so keep an eye out for details in early 2017.
